You know a restaurant is going to be good when the hostess tells you there’s a 45 minute wait on a weekday morning. Such was the case when I pulled up to Citrus. While I waited, I sipped on one of their 16 varieties of strong mimosas on the back patio and lounged on one of the many benches shaded by cozy palm trees. My buzzer went off within 30 minutes. I ordered their namesake Citrus Style pancakes. They come with your choice of sausage patty or link or bacon, and your choice of eggs. Within minutes this delectable dish was in my face. The pancakes were no less than ½ inch thick each, topped with pineapples and bananas, and served with a tub of warm fresh citrus glaze (family recipe). The sausage links looked fat and juicy and the eggs were delightfully fluffy. The pancakes were airy and the sweet citrus glaze topping was a decadent addition to the fresh fruit. The combination melted in my mouth. The thick sausages were savory and it wasn’t until I finished the meal that I came to the realization that I never even touched the traditional syrup that was on the table. (It didn’t need it)
